What is earthday.org vision?
Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EarthDay.org including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries. The official theme for 2022 is Invest In Our Planet. www.earthday.org
“Our world needs transformational change. It’s time for the world to hold sectors accountable for their role in our environmental crisis while also calling for bold, creative, and innovative solutions. This will require action at all levels, from business and investment to city and national government.
That’s where you come in: As an individual, you yield real power and influence as a consumer, a voter, and a member of a community that can unite for change.
Don’t underestimate your power. When your voice and your actions are united with thousands or millions of others around the world, we create a movement that is inclusive, impactful, and impossible to ignore.
Every Earth Day can drive a year of energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to create a new plan of action for our planet.”
What are Protega doing to help companies reduce carbon footprints?
Protega are leading the packaging industry to a plastic-free and more sustainable future. By manufacturing our Hexcelwrap and paper cushioning within the UK, sourcing all our materials from local water mills and using FSC® certified paper.
It is our aim to work with other companies to reduce the carbon footprint in the packaging industry. Offering sustainable option to pack and protect your brand is the forefront of what we do as an organisation. Our slogan ‘Eco-friendly packaging that doesn’t cost the earth’ is what we strive for in everyday business. We have spent years developing the perfect paper cushion that is equivalent to the strongest on the market, but with a much smaller footprint, and with optimal use of paper.
We boast a 60% reduction in breakages with a 100% recycled paper which is 100% recyclable and biodegradable. As a company we are FSC® registered, and we are confident that the products we sell are sustainable with little or no carbon footprint.
Working with companies to use sustainable packaging is not all we do; we are also finding innovative ways give the same protection to products while reducing the amount of material to do so.
But does switching to paper packaging instantly make a company eco-friendly? Well, the simple answer is no… although paper is substantially less damaging than plastic, if companies are over-packing products then it’s making little to no difference to their sustainability.
